Of course one of the many uses for the studio is going to be film shoots (by the way, rental rates are now posted!). Since opening at the beginning of December we’ve already had the pleasure of having 2 music videos shot at Low Key Studio, and a third one is happening this Saturday.

The boys (along with the ridiculously talented and animated Anna Cyzon, who is featured on the track) from Johnny Major stopped by last weekend to shoot their video for Ghetto Fabulous [which I’m directing!]. With Chris Wardle as D.O.P. and Editor on this one, it’s sure to be an awesome first video for them! I just got some screen shots from some behind the scenes footage that was shot by Chris, so here they are!

(All Photos property of Chris Wardle)

The video will be dropping on January 6th 2012, and there will be a release party for the iTunes release of their new album “This is The Sound” and the music video release at Low Key Studios on the 6th as well. More details will be coming soon.

In other news, Katie and I were in studio shooting our Christmas cards the other night, and I was playing around with some long exposure stuff for fun when I got this photo…

Merry Christmas from Low Key Studio & Gallery!

If anyone is interested in booking a photoshoot for a friend or loved one as a Christmas present, we’ve got some sweet packages available at a discounted price during the Holiday Season. Shoot me an email at christoph@lowkeystudio.com if you’re interested! And don’t forget about the Workshops!

Bye bye for now!

Christoph

Did a quick couples shoot last night with Manny and Jer…I hope these aren’t going out as this year’s christmas cards!

These definitely have a bit of a “Twilight” thing going for them…not sure if that’s a bad thing.

Also a little reminder that the workshops are now posted! If you’re interested in taking your photography to the next level, check out the Workshops Page! Or, if you’re looking for a Christmas gift for the photography lover on your list it would make an awesome gift! Very reasonably priced, small class sizes, and we pack a ton of information into each session, making it excellent value. If nothing else it’s a great chance to work with a professional model in a studio with professional lighting gear!

Oh yeah, and if you like food…check this out!

I had the pleasure of working with a local Hamilton model, the lovely Ashley C. yesterday. These are some of my favourite shots from the afternoon.

Ashley will be one of several highly experienced models that workshop participants will be able to shoot with starting in January’s first batch of Studio Techniques workshops. Check back later this week for more information on the workshops and other featured models.

So stoked to have a true legend of Toronto hip hop in the studio today! Mindbender made his way all the way out to do a shoot to promote his upcoming mixtape. Although the studio is still in a state of construction, I couldn’t turn down this opportunity. So glad we were able to make something work in the disaster area that is the current state of the studio!

The Mixtape, No More Mr. Nice Guy Vol.3 – Romantic Mindfuck Decapitation, drops on the 26th and there will be a Release Party at This Ain’t Hollywood in Hamilton. Be sure to check it out before or after you swing by here for our own Launch Party!

Much Love,

Christoph

Things are moving along this weekend. We’ve been framing out the North facing wall to accommodate bigger window sills, finishing up the kitchen area, and getting the make-up area set up.

We also picked up a bunch of square frames from Ikea for the Instagram showcase and Augie from the Hamilton Tiger Cats stopped in to drop off his barely used leather love seat and micro suede chairs.

Still a lot to do before the Grand Opening party, but most of the big stuff is out of the way so we’re feeling pretty good about moving forward!

We’ve finally gotten enough confirmation to move forward with an Official Announcement for the Grand Opening Party! Low Key Studio & Gallery will have the official Community Launch Party on November 26th featuring DJ Adverb on the Technics and of course Sanjay Patel doing the Live Painting.

There are still more possibilities including a possible acoustic set by pop-duo Johnny Major who’s newest album is dropping on the 11th! And there will definitely be a fun-photo booth set up at the party.

Keep checking back for more information on this BYOB party. To sign up for the facebook event, click HERE. It’s not mandatory for entry but will help me with numbers and I’ll be able to keep you in the loop.

Hope to see you all there!

Christoph

Sanjay stopped by to shoot a live painting session today. We’re putting together some promos for the launch party and this is going to be one of them. I’m a big fan of Sanjay’s work because it’s abstract, yet intentional. He’s often commissioned to do custom work for residential and commercial customers, where he’ll design a piece which caters to all of the considerations in a specific room.

Sanjay Patel

Sanjay will be doing live paintings at the Official Launch Party which has been set for November 26th, 2011. He’ll be one of the Featured Artists of the night with work on display. If you are an artist based in the GHA (Greater Hamilton Area) and would like to have your work featured at the Launch Party, send an email to admin@lowkeystudio.com and give me a background on yourself and your work.

Check back later this week for the Launch Party promo video featuring Sanjay Patel working on this piece!

Having just acquired the keys to the former architect’s office yesterday, work is already underway at Low Key to prep the shooting area.

After a days work, we’ve got half the walls down, as well as half of the 1/8th inch facade covering the original brick walls.

We’ve got a lot of work to do before the Grand Opening party in November. Check back often for updates on the construction and the party!
